Advanced
Settings > Core > Advanced holds two performance options. Change them only to solve a specific problem, and check the booking widget afterwards.
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Enable Caching | Keeps the data of TheBooking, such as services and reservations, in the WordPress object cache, so the plugin reads the database less often. TheBooking clears its cache when the data changes. | Off |
| Availability fetch window | How many months of availability the booking widget loads with each request, from 1 to 12. | 1 |
Caching
Caching helps most on a site with a persistent object cache, such as Redis or Memcached, often offered by the host. Turn it off again if the admin or the widget shows data that does not update, which can happen when the object cache of the site does not work correctly.
Availability fetch window
With 1, the widget loads one month at a time, as the customer moves through the calendar. A higher value loads more months at once: fewer requests when free times are rare, but each request takes longer. With Google Calendar, a wider window also makes each check of the Google calendars larger.
