Glossary

Availability plan

The schedule that makes services bookable: working hours, dates, services, providers, and calendars. See Availability plans.

Booking

What a customer does in the booking widget, and the appointment from the customer's point of view. In the WordPress admin and in the API, the same appointment is a reservation.

Booking flow

The order of the first steps in the widget: Service first (service, then date and time) or Calendar first (day, then service). See Booking workflow.

Campaign

A promotion that applies by itself to the eligible bookings. See Promotions.

Coupon

A promotion that applies only when the customer enters its code. See Promotions.

Customer

The person who books. A customer can be a guest or linked to a WordPress user. See Customers and privacy.

Delegated setting

A service setting that each provider sets for themselves. See Personal service settings.

Independent plan

An availability plan whose appointments are separate from those of the other plans of the same service: without providers it has its own capacity; with the same provider, the first booking at a time decides the plan. See Availability plans.

Lead time

How far in advance a time opens for booking (opening lead time), and how close to the start booking closes (lead time restriction). See Time slots.

Location

The place where an appointment happens. See Locations.

My bookings

The customer area of the widget, where customers see, pay, and cancel their bookings. See My bookings.

Provider

The person or resource an appointment is assigned to, based on a WordPress user. See Providers.

Reservation

A booking as stored by TheBooking, with its status (pending, confirmed, cancelled), payment, and history. See Manage reservations.

Reservation status page

The page, set under Settings > Core > Redirects, that opens My bookings from the links in the emails.

Routing strategy

How a service assigns a provider: chosen by the customer (manual), or assigned by TheBooking (first available, least loaded, random). See Assigning appointments to providers.

Service

What customers book: a consultation, a class, a treatment. See Services.

Slot

A time that a customer can book, generated from the availability plans, the service rules, and the existing reservations. See Slots preview.

Soonest available

An entry of the provider list that picks the provider with the nearest free time. See Assigning appointments to providers.

Source, blocking, and destination calendars

The roles of a Google calendar in a plan: its events give availability (source), its busy events remove availability (blocking), or it receives the events of new reservations (destination). See Google Calendar.

Team slot

The single time customers see when a service assigns providers automatically, instead of one time per provider.

Ticket

One place in a slot. A class can sell several tickets for the same time; a one-to-one appointment has one.
