Payments

Settings > Payments turns online payments on and sets up the payment gateways. For the whole setup, from the currency to the first test payment, see Enable online payments.

General

SettingWhat it doesDefault
Enable online paymentsLets customers pay online through the active gateways.Off
Pending payment expiration timeHow long a customer has to complete an online payment, from 5 minutes to 24 hours. It appears when online payments are on. See Which reservations expire.1 hour
Payment gatewaysA card for each gateway: Stripe, PayPal, and Mollie. Enable a gateway on its card, then enter its keys in its own menu item.All off

Which reservations expire

A reservation expires when this time passes and all of these are true:

  • it is still Pending, and not paid;
  • its service has How payment is required set to Online;
  • its price is above zero, after any discount;
  • online payments are on, with an active gateway.

This includes a reservation that also waits for approval. Bookings of Local or Discretionary services, and free reservations, never expire. An expired reservation appears as Expired in Reservations, until the cleanup job deletes it, without emails. See Payments and refunds.

Do not choose a very short Pending payment expiration time: the confirmation of a payment can reach your site with some delay, and the reservation must not expire meanwhile.

A gateway is active only when its keys are valid and it supports the currency. The menu item of each gateway appears under Payments when online payments are on and the gateway is enabled.

In the menu item of a gateway, enter the keys first: the other options appear once the gateway is active.
